No More P5Q Pro Turbo

I recently sold the computer that pretty much inspired me to make this website, my Asus P5Q Pro turbo hackintosh. Since building my Sandy Bridge system last year I really hadn’t been using the old computer. I tried to find some uses for it, but it was just taking up space. So now that that’s [...] Read more »

Yesterday Apple released the OS X 10.7.1 update. I updated and the only problem I had was with SleepEnabler, as usual. Before updating, replace the SleepEnabler.kext you are currently using with this one. Tweet Read more »

10.6.8 on P5Q Pro Turbo

Apple released the 10.6.8 update today. I’ve got it running on my P5Q Pro turbo, but SleepEnabler is broken as usual. If a new one is released by tomorrow afternoon, I’ll try to update this post with a link but if not it will be about a week before I have time to mess with [...] Read more »

OS X Lion DP4 on my Hackintosh

I installed OS X Lion Developer Preview 4 on my hackintosh a few days ago. It runs well, though it does feel a little slower than Snow Leopard does. All the kexts from my Snow Leopard installation tutorial work except SleepEnabler and JMicronATA. I found a working JMicronATA online, but sleep still doesn’t work. VoodooHDA [...] Read more »

OS X 10.6.7 on the P5Q Pro Turbo

Screen shot 2011-03-21 at 3.23.41 PM

Apple released the 10.6.7 update. The first attempt to install it failed, but the second worked for me. When I started it up the first time after the update, it ran kinda slow and software update launched twice for some reason. I rebooted it again and it froze at the login window. I restarted it [...] Read more »

Corsair H50 Review

Last weekend I replaced my stock Intel heatsink with the Corsair H50. I wasn’t happy with the temperatures I was getting with the stock Intel fan, and it was starting to get noisy (which would have been okay if it could pick a speed and stick with it). The H50 wasn’t too hard to install, [...] Read more »

Almost Got OS X on a Gateway NV53A

I was looking at Prasys’ blog, and I found a post about a newer EFI Boot CD that’s supposed to be better than Empire EFI called ModCD. I saw that it supports both Intel and AMD machines, so I tried it out on my laptop and actually got the Snow Leopard install disc to boot. [...] Read more »

10.6.4 on P5Q Pro Turbo [Updated]

Apple released the 10.6.4 update today. Go ahead and update your hackintosh, it went fine for me. Be sure to remove SleepEnabler.kext before installing because you’ll get a kernel panic, and it’ll be a pain to fix. I couldn’t get into single user mode to delete it, I had to use MacDrive to delete the [...] Read more »
